Remembering Miss Lou the Cultural Icon

September 7, 2009 was the 90th birthday of the Hon. Louise Bennett Coverley, the Jamaican cultural icon more popularly known as Miss Lou. Miss Lou has had a positive impact on the respect and appreciation I have for the Jamaican language and culture. I really do believe that the Jamaican culture is a very good foundation upon which we can build a viable entertainment economy, therefore, it is on this premise that I pause to remember the contribution of Miss Lou to reinforcing that foundation.
